M Is For MAC Lipstick #Syrup

Yes, I am a MAC lipstick girl and Syrup is one of my all time favourites. I've first seen it in one of the videos on YouTube and it looked so gorgeous on the girl (I can't remember who it was) that I went straight to my local MAC counter and got it. And let me tell you, it was exactly what I was expecting. Syrup is in the Lustre collection which is the one I go for the most. I would describe it as a neutral mauve pink colour, once applied it looks like my lips but better if that makes sense. It's a perfect shade for a neutral, everyday eye look but it works well for both, day and night. The texture of this lipstick is soft and smooth which makes it extremely easy to apply, and the pigmentation is pretty good too. Its got a glossy finish but it's not sticky like a lot of other glossy lip products are. It's also moisturising and doesn't settle into fine lines or dries out my lips throughout the day. However, if your lips are on the dry side like mine you mind need to put lip balm on first just in case. It's fairly long-lasting, I need to re-apply every couple of hours but that doesn't really bother me. The price is reasonable - £15, it's pretty much in-between drugstore and high-end price range. I would definitely recommend this lipstick, especially for this time of year as well.

What's your favourite brand for lipsticks? Have you tried any MAC ones?

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in 13 Pink In Paris | Review

I've been wanting a YSL lipstick for absolute ages, I've seen the hype it's got and pictures were all over the place. So I finally decided to treat myself on my last payday and picked one up in Fenwicks. The shade I got is Pink In Paris, which is quite literally the prettiest pink I've ever seen. Plus the packaging is so lush, a gold tube with the shade shown in the middle and a YSL logo all round it. Beautiful. The colour is buildable so it's up to you how strong you want it to be. It's a good everyday kind of shade as well, so you can easily wear it to work or uni. The application is smooth and easy, you don't even need a mirror. Staying power is great too, especially when you're not planning on drinking or eating but then again, I don't really mind re-applying so. It's like the creamiest lipstick I tried so far, feels so nice on the lips. I already know which shade I'm going to get next, so yes I will definitely re-purchase this product. It might seem quite expensive but it's definitely worth the money. It's good to treat yourself sometimes, and a good lipstick every now and then is a brilliant treat. Well, for me anyway.
Have you tried any lipsticks from Rouge Volupte Shine collection? What do you get when you decide to treat yourself?

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipsticks in 02, 03, 06 and 19 | Review

I am a little obsessed with lipsticks lately and was trying out a lot, so this time I decided to share my love to Bourjois' Rouge Edition that came out not so long ago. The lipsticks I picked up are in shades 02, 03 06 and 19, and  an absolute winner for me is 02 which is kind of a purple/brown-ish shade. Then 03 and 19 are coral shades, but 19 is more of a sheer and light colour. The least favourite of mine is 06 (a frosty pink), it just doesn't suit my complexion. All the lipsticks are well-pigmented and moisturising, and deliver just the right amount of shine. My lips tend to get dry easily and peel, which makes it hard to find good lipsticks (and that's probably the reason why I've been trying out so many) but these are just perfect. They stay on for ages as well, however I re-apply every now and again because I'm just so used to it. I really like the packaging too, it's quite classy and you can see the colour of the lipstick at the bottom, plus I love the click it does while closing (I'm weird like that). I would love to try a few more shades and will definitely re-purchase 02 and 19.
Have you tried Rouge Edition yet? Which shade is your favourite?

MAC Lipstick in Peach Blossom | Review

I went a little makeup crazy this month and got quite a few lipsticks, but decided to review MAC's Peach Blossom first because I'm quite literally in love with it. And I only got it a few days ago. Love at first sight that was. It's a really lovely peachy pink shade with sheer and glossy coverage. It gives my lips just the right amount of shimmer making them look subtle as well as adds a nice glow. It's not a long-lasting type of lipstick (Cremesheen) but re-applying every now and then doesn't really bother me because I do it with any lip product anyway. I think what I like most about this lipstick is that it doesn't dry out my lips like so many other ones tend to do since my lips can get chapped easily. Peach Blossom is the perfect shade of nude for me (fair) or at least I think it is because I like it so much, but I've tried so many nudes before and none suited me. I'm so glad I got this and would recommend it to anyone. I'm definitely re-purchasing it once it's used up.
Have you tried any of the Cremesheen lipsticks?

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks

^ Left: 832 Kiss Pearl. Right: 150 Stellar Pink

Since I started getting into lipsticks and nudes weren't really working out too well I decided to turn to pinks. I picked up a couple of Maybelline's Color Sensational lipsticks in light and dark-ish pink. I didn't expect much cause lipsticks and I don't really get along that well during winter, but these two have been a nice surprise. First swipe only makes it sheer but it's buildable which lets you decide how much coverage is needed. It's nicely pigmented and smells quite funky and fruity in a way, which I like a lot (weirdly). It doesn't last particularly long but I don't mind re-applying since these are actually the first lipsticks I really like. What I love most about is the fact that it doesn't dry out my lips or settle into creases (rare this time of year), so I would love to try a few more shades at some point. The colour range is amazing, definitely a lot to choose from and I think the packaging is gorgeous. Money wise it's not too bad, £7.19 each.

Lipstick: Rimmel by Kate

^ From left: 113, 26 and 03

I only got into lipsticks recently, I was never a fan probably because I couldn't find a perfect one that I could just use over and over again. But I decided to get out of my comfort zone and give the Rimmel by Kate collection a go since I've heard so many good things about it. Plus they were on 3 for 2 offer in Boots at the time (£5.49 each it was I think) so not a bad price. I went for nude shades because they are my favourite.
First I tried the lipstick in 113, from the red collection and unfortunately it put me off straight away, it did look nice when I swatched it in store but once I used it on my lips it just looked dry and unhealthy even. The lipstick is not pigmented enough and smells a bit too much like plastic to me. I didn't expect a lot from the black collection after this, so when I tried them on I was very surprised. They are nicely pigmented, don't crack on the lips after a few seconds like the red one does and they smell a lot nicer too for some reason. I don't know why there is so many differences between the two, but I'm glad that the black collection turned out the way it did, not all money wasted afterall. I have to say I like he black packaging more too, with a nice touch of red or pink Kate signature rather thank red and black but that's probably just me. It's still not something I would use every day because the lipsticks need constant re-applying, but I do like the black collection and will use the product from time to time. You can't really complain for the price either, 5 or 6 quid is not much for a lipstick and Rimmel is a great brand.
